The challenge
Zydus Wellness’s Aligarh plant uses more than 3,000 contract workers at peak. They range from skilled CEKA machine operators and maintenance staff to packaging, machine helpers, loading and unloading, and material movement teams.
All of this depended on two manpower vendors. If either faltered, whether through a sourcing shortfall, a local disruption or an inability to scale, production, packaging and dispatch were at risk.
Zydus needed a credible third partner: one that could scale to a meaningful share, deploy quickly, and meet the plant’s statutory and audit standards from the start.
What TNSL did
Put a team on the ground from day one. Four TNSL field staff were based at the plant from the start, handling sourcing, mobilisation and day-to-day workforce support so requirement changes were met locally and fast.
Sourced skilled and general roles separately. CEKA operators and maintenance staff were sourced for specific machine and maintenance experience. Packaging and general roles were sourced for reliable availability and readiness for factory work.
Proved delivery early. TNSL mobilised more than 125 workers in the first 45 days, about 10% of them skilled. That showed the third-vendor channel was real, not a token.
Built for scale and audit. The channel grew to about 600 workers at peak, with sourcing capacity for up to 1,000. Records, wages and statutory obligations were run to Zydus’s compliance parameters throughout.
Results
- About 600 workers at peak supplied through TNSL, a meaningful share of a 3,000+ workforce.
- 125+ workers in 45 days at the start, about 10% of them skilled.
- Capacity for up to 1,000, giving the plant headroom for production peaks.
- Zero reported non-compliance issues over three years, with every audit cleared.
- Less concentration risk: the plant no longer depends on two vendors for its manpower.
Why it matters
Adding a vendor reduces risk only if the new vendor can scale and stay compliant. TNSL became a real third channel at Aligarh: fast to mobilise, large enough to matter and clean on audits.
