Haridwar has been an industrial town since BHEL set up its heavy electrical plant here in the 1960s. The big change came after Uttarakhand’s special industrial package of 2003, when SIDCUL’s Integrated Industrial Estate drew FMCG, pharmaceutical, two-wheeler and electrical manufacturers to the area.
